Outside Roofing Sales Representative (1099 Independent Contractor)

Foothill Roofing has been serving California since 1979. Originally established in the foothills of Southern California, we now proudly serve homeowners throughout Northern California, from San Jose to San Francisco.

We are looking for experienced, self-motivated Independent Contractor Outside Sales Representatives to join our team.

What We Provide

• 1-2 confirmed homeowner appointments per day
• Qualified leads from homeowners requesting roof repairs or replacements
• Financing options for customers
• Credit card payment processing
• Paper contracts and sales folders provided during onboarding
• A dedicated manager available for support
• Approved subcontractor and vendor list
• An in-house Inside Sales team to assist with follow-up and proposal management

Your Responsibilities

• Meet with homeowners at scheduled appointments
• Inspect roofs and take measurements
• Present repair and replacement options
• Close the sale
• If a sale is not made during the appointment, take detailed photos, document your findings, and submit your notes to our Inside Sales team so they can prepare a professional proposal and continue the follow-up process.
• Maintain communication with customers throughout the project
• Ensure the work being performed matches what was sold
• Keep customers informed and satisfied from start to finish
• Driving a lot can’t be a problem.

Once a project is sold, Foothill Roofing assigns an approved subcontractor who is responsible for labor, materials, permits (when applicable), and project completion. Your role is to manage the customer relationship and ensure a smooth sales experience.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of roofing sales experience
• Active California Home Improvement Salesperson (HIS) License
• Strong closing skills
• Knowledge of residential roofing systems and home improvement sales
• Professional appearance and communication
• Reliable transportation

During the interview process, you will be asked to demonstrate your sales process and closing strategy.

Compensation

Commission Only (1099 Independent Contractor)

Commission is 50% of the net profit.

Example

• Sale Price: $10,000
• Company Overhead (20%): -$2,000
• Remaining: $8,000
• Job Cost: -$5,000
• Net Profit: $3,000
• Your Commission (50%): $1,500

Our sales representatives average approximately 15% of their total monthly sales volume in earnings.

Successful representatives typically produce $150,000 or more in monthly sales.

Expected minimum closing ratio: 25%.

Please note that financing and credit card transactions include processing fees, which reduce the net profit and therefore the commission.

Independent Contractor Position

This is a true independent contractor opportunity.

We do not provide

• Health insurance
• Mileage reimbursement
• Weekly sales meetings
• Mandatory team meetings or group huddles

You will work independently while receiving ongoing support from your assigned manager whenever needed.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year
